Solo Mailing

Solo Mailing

In terms of email marketing, solo mail refers to a single communication to an opt-in email list that is separate from regular newsletters and promotions.  This one-time broadcast is often a message from an outside advertiser who has paid a list owner for  an ad swap; solo mailings can be useful for marketers who engage in ad swaps to increase their web-based market reach. These messages allow the outside advertiser to reach a new group that fits their targeted customer-base and that could result in new customers and sales. However, these solo mailings do not necessarily have to come from an outside advertiser. An email marketer may chose to break from their typical mailing scheme — for example, a newsletter that is released at the beginning of the month —  to release a special promotion — perhaps a sale offer for a product released in the middle of the month.
