Teaser or tease message, can be used as the front-runner of an email marketing campaign.  This tease ad is the first advertisement that the user in a targeted market receives and reveals only a small amount of information about the advertiser or the product that it is promoting. This limited information is released to arouse the targeted audience’s curiosity and garner widespread attention.  It is an effective tactic to build excitement and expectations by capitalizing on the users’ intrigue. These are used widely in social network marketing campaigns like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

Teaser messages often reveal only a release, launch date, or other small snippet of information to recipients. Because the text for these teasers is limited, email marketers must use other methods to catch their recipients’ attention. Teasers may rely more heavily on graphics and break the mold of the marketer’s standard email layout. The one-time-use nature of the teaser allows marketers the freedom to create messages that rely solely on their brand design or allow them to launch a new or highly modified variation of an original theme. Think popular soft drink or clothing lines that want to revamp their market identification in stages that facilitate a moderate or dramatic brand change.
