Forward to a Friend

Forward to a Friend

In most email newsletters, it refers to a link that allows the original recipient of an email newsletter to resend that message to additional people they think would like to have the information or sale, even though that person isn’t on the originators subscriber list. (Users and email system administrators refer to sending a received message to a different account as “forwarding” regardless of whether they are speaking of server-based or client-based forwarding.)

Client-based fowarding refers to an automated response set up by an individual user, to forward all emails to a second, more regularly used account. Forwarding can also be completed manually within the email client. This option typically gives users the options to add their own message or edit the information.

Forwarding messages is a simple way for email recipients to share newsletters or email marketing offers with friends or other email users who may be interested in the information. Forwarded messages are generally trusted, as the recipient knows the second sender in some capacity. Because the forwarder knows their recipient’s interests, it is likely that the messages will reach an interested party who may also sign-up for a mailing list requesting further communication from the original sender, or may make an e-commerce transaction through the email message or links.
