Alias

This is a shorter or more specific email address that provides an alternate way to reach a single account. These more specific email aliases allow senders to communicate promotional deals, discounts, advertisements and other information to their recipients without giving out their true email address. Often, email marketers will use alias email addresses to makes their individual user account with one that is more memorable to their mailing list.

The actual email address is an account located on the email server. This account stores incoming emails. An example might be: JohnDoe@MyBusiness.com. An alias will look and act like a regular email address. However, instead of collecting and storing emails in its own account, it will direct incoming emails to the real email address with which it is associated. For example, mailing list recipients might receive a newsletter from Sender@MyBusiness.com. Should the recipients reply to their emails using Sender@MyBusiness.com, these emails will go directly to the associated account: JohnDoe@MyBusiness.com

Many services allow users to have as many alias email names as they like associated with a single account. If you need to send communications from Sender@MyBusiness.com, Sales@MyBusiness.com and Help@MyBusiness.com, these can all be linked with the same individual email address. All new aliases will work the same, directing incoming emails to the same associated email address. While users can send email messages using both alias and real email addresses, all responses are received by the main account.
