A signature file, once configured by a user, provides an automatically inserted tagline or short block of text at the end of an email message. These can also include pertinent links to a personal blog, company website, or social networking site. Signature files can also be formatted in HTML email newsletters and can include all of the previously mentioned content along with an image.
