Mass Email

What is a Mass Email?

Mass email is created and sent to a considerably large group of recipients that may or may not be targeted to any certain demographic or group. This is, in essence like fishing (not phising), hoping to capture as many sales leads as possible. Most of these mass emails are considered spam or unsolicited bulk email or unsolicited commercial email.

Marketing with Mass Emailing

Mass mailing traditionally has a low conversion rate because there is generally no follow up and therefore lead generation is minimal or results in zero leads. However, if the mass email is a gateway for permission-based or an opt-in system, recipients may sign up for future communications. Once the mass email is sent, then an analysis of the potential return on investment to measure the risk versus reward can be conducted.

Is Mass Email Worth it?

Mass mailing lists are usually purchased through brokers, who collect them from list sellers. The downside of purchasing these lists is there is no way of knowing whether the list will be worth its cost until the list is used. Many of these lists are generated on link-baiting websites that capture customer or visitor information and request permission to pass their email on to partners or other trusted entities. Using these methods in no way ensure a viable list or lists and will result in high bounce rates and risking being blacklisted by most ISPs.
