Definition of Email Harvesting

This term has come to describe a process of collecting large numbers of email addresses from various sources for the purpose of profiting from the selling of harvested lists. Many of these sources are spammers who have perfected the use of software or bots which spider web pages, internet forums or the highly illegal use of directory harvesting attacks.
