Electronic Commerce

Electronic Commerce

Electronic commerce is more commonly known today as eCommerce, refers to the buying and selling of products and services using electronic systems. This typically refers to transactions using the Internet, though this may refer to other computer networks or mobile applications. Today, many companies find it almost impossible to compete in the marketplace without using one or more forms of electronic transactions.

eCommerce leverages monetary transfers, internet marketing, electronic data exchange, and more to create active, virtual shops that become part of the global marketplace, rather than just a single location-centric group of potential customers. Though electronic commerce typically utilizes web browsers and company websites at one point in the life cycle, these point of sale sites are instrumental as customers become part of demographic databases for marketing strategy creation and recruit opt-in subscribers for email lists. However, there are other electronic transmissions that businesses may use to pursue marketing goals. These commonly include mobile apps and email marketing messages.
