Bounce Rate

Bounce Rate

Bounce rate aka: Bounce. Email marketing professionals review their bounce rates because these are an important element combined with other metrics when calculating marketing analysis equations. A bounce is any message that sends message specific reports back as either a hard or soft bounce.  A hard bounce is a delivery failure for a permanent reason, which could be a misspelled address, a closed, or inactive email address. A soft bounce is a delivery failure due to a recipient’s mailbox being over quota at the time of the delivery attempt, and this is a temporary condition.

What the bounce rate reveals to email newsletter marketers is what portion of subscribers sent a message didn’t receive that message, which directly effects a sender’s reputation and if the bounce rates aren’t lowered sufficiently, it will do so negatively. However, this is not the only metric used in determining a bounce rate.
